Prevention

While some risk factors for cancer such as age, gender and genetics cannot be changed, there are lifestyle choices that can decrease the risk of developing cancer. Some of these include:

  1. Get vaccinated against HPV.
  2. Stop the use of tobacco.
  3. Protect yourself while in the sun.
  4. Get screened for:
    1. breast cancer if you are a female between the ages of 50-74.
    2. cervical cancer if you are a female between the ages of 21-69.
    3. colon cancer if you are between the ages of 50-74.
