Helpful Resources

During your first appointment, you will have a chance to talk about your worries, concerns and ask questions. We want you to take part in your appointments and get the most out of a visit with your health care team. The brochure below Your Guide to CancerCare Manitoba also provides you with basic information to help prepare you for your first appointment.

Every attempt is made to mail the brochure to new patients before their first visit. If you didn’t receive a copy, please pick one up at any time at the CCMB Patient and Family Resource Centre (room 1016 - 675 McDermot Ave), the St. Boniface Site (O Block - 409 Taché Ave) or any of our Community Cancer Program sites.

Patient and Family Guide

The CancerCare Manitoba Patient and Family Guide is a supportive resource for individuals facing cancer. It covers how to prepare for appointments, understand treatment options, access emotional and practical support, and navigate services like transportation and insurance. The guide emphasizes patient rights, offers tools for tracking health, and highlights programs such as Hope and Healing and Cancer Navigation Services.

First Nations Patient Guide

This guide provides cancer information, introduces patients to their healthcare team, and helps patients get ready for their first appointment at CancerCare Manitoba. This guide also lists various services available to First Nations patients, including connecting with Non-Insured Health Benefits and Health Canada to assist with treatment and travel.

Patient Pathway Diagrams

These diagrams help show what a cancer journey may look like for a patient. The lung, breast, and colon pathways also provide timeline information about when patients might expect to move to the next step along their journey. All pathways have contact information for different programs and services at CancerCare Manitoba.

The general pathway is also available in the following languages: Ininimowin (Swampy Cree), Anishnaabemowin (Ojibwe), Anishininemowein (Ojibwe-Cree), Dakota, Dene, Michif Cree, Michif French and Inuktitut. Click here.
