Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Speech-Language Pathologist, as part of the interdisciplinary health care teams, will collaborate to assist in the development of CancerCare Manitoba’ Speech Language Pathology Services within the provincial mandate of CancerCare Manitoba. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the Speech-Language Pathologist will provide clinical services to patients and families, act as a resource to CancerCare Manitoba and our Community Oncology Program partner, offer educational programs to patients and staff, and actively participate in training and research. Services will be provided at both CancerCare Manitoba Units (MacCharles and St. Boniface). Occasional travel to other CCMB sites may be required.



  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Speech-Language Pathology (an equivalent combination of training and experience with above may be considered)
  • Current registration and Certificate of Practice with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM)
  • Certified by CASLPM in the following advanced competencies:
  • Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation and Management of Swallowing Disorders
  • Videofluroscopic Assessment of Adult Swallowing Disorders
  • Voice Restoration through the use of voice prostheses
  • Swallowing and voice restoration through the use of tracheotomy tubes or speaking valves
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Ability to travel to other sites
  • Must hold a satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Will be assessed during the interview process:

  • Demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary model of care including strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of staff and the public.
  • Ability to design, deliver and evaluate Speech-Language Pathology programs and services.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Physical and mental health to fulfill the responsibilities of the position


  • Experience in oncology
  • Availability for additional casual hours
  • Experience in a hospital/health care setting especially in an outpatient setting
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary care teams
  • Leadership and professional development


  • Ability to speak French

Direct care workers are required to either be vaccinated for Covid-19 or to participate in on-going regular Covid-19 testing pursuant to Orders made under The Public Health Act C.C.S.M. c.
