Reporting to the Resource Coordinator, the Secretary III is responsible for the efficient and confidential provision of reception, secretarial and administrative support to the Radiation Oncology Program. Responsibilities include scheduling and organizing meetings, coordination of rounds, taking minutes, maintaining various schedules, preparing correspondence such as agendas and memos, data entry (including payroll) and other general office duties. The incumbent will take direction from various stakeholders including managers and directors within the program. Flexible and non-conformal shift patterns may be required. Flexibility to work at both MacCharles and 825 Sherbrook sites daily.



  • Successful completion of a recognized administrative or secretarial training program or the equivalent in education and experience as determined by CancerCare Manitoba
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a senior secretarial position
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams and Outlook)
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to stressful situations
  • Ability to liaise with staff at all levels in the organization and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Will be assessed during the testing process:

  • Written communication skills – Written composition test (70% passing benchmark)
  • Medical Terminology Test (70% passing benchmark)
  • Computer keyboarding skills of 40 wpm with high degree of accuracy


  • Experience working in a healthcare environment


  • Ability to speak French

Salary: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

Additional Information:

Proof of English 40S and or equivalent proof of English proficiency maybe required during the selection process.

Direct care workers are required to either be vaccinated for Covid-19 or to participate in on-going regular Covid-19 testing pursuant to Orders made under The Public Health Act C.C.S.M. c. P210.  Successful applicants will be notified at the time of offer of the applicability of this requirement for this position.
