Under the supervision of the Epidemiology Lead, the SAS Programmer Analyst participates in developing and implementing computer programs to extract, compile, and analyze cancer-related data. The incumbent also assists members of other departments in their research activities which involve cancer-related data, particularly that from the Manitoba Cancer Registry and Manitoba Health.



  • Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in statistics, computer science or related fields plus 3 years of directly related work experience
  • Must have detailed knowledge of SAS (demonstrated abilities involving data linkage, data manipulation, and use of procedures for statistical analysis).
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written are required.
  • Physical and mental health to fulfil the responsibilities of the position
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to work legally in Canada


  • Familiarity with epidemiological concepts and administrative databases are assets.
  • Experience working with other statistical languages (R, STAT A) is an asset.
  • Master's degree in a directly related study area such as demography, quantitative social sciences, statistics or community health sciences
  • Ability to speak French
