Reporting to the CancerCare Manitoba Chief of Research/Director of the CCMB Research Institute, the Administrative Officer will provide executive administrative analytical, organizational and communications support to the Director and the Associate Director, Research Operations. The position is part of the administrative team responsible for the operations of the CCMB Research Institute.

Supervision of support staff may be required, which includes providing direction to junior staff (permanent, temporary or casual) within the portfolio, including workload delegation, on-the-job training, monitoring of workloads, ensuring deadlines are met and procedures are followed.  The incumbent conducts and contributes to the performance appraisal of junior employees by providing feedback to the executive and appropriate Directors.



  • Successful completion of a recognized administrative training program or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Five years’ directly related experience supporting a senior/executive level leader
  • Three years’ supervisory/leadership experience
  • Ability to work independently interfacing with highly skilled professionals in a team environment and provide leadership in work activities
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, assign and supervise the work of junior employees
  • Typing speed of >65 wpm
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada


  • College or undergraduate education in business
  • Experience in complex healthcare/academic environment
  • Skills in project management
  • Contract review


  • Ability to speak French
