I'm Still Here: An Art Exhibit
Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CancerCare Manitoba, 2nd Floor Atrium, 675 McDermot Avenue
Note: Please use the front main lobby elevator or stairs to proceed to the exhibit.
Walk through this powerful exhibit featuring artwork created by participants of CancerCare Manitoba's (CCMB) Expressive Art Therapy group.
Using different materials and activities, individuals explored and expressed their experiences with cancer. Miriam Duff, a CCMB counsellor with training in expressive art and mindfulness, guided participants through the process.
The exhibit is open to all people with cancer and their families, health-care staff, and members of the public who may be interested.
The art pieces on display are part of a research study led by Dr. Kendra Rieger in which participants were interviewed to better understand their process of creating art and the impact of this on their understanding and experience with cancer.
An audio guide will allow visitors to listen to the patient voice read by actors, their thoughts, feelings and the meaning behind the creation of their art (available on your phone via QR code or headset).
