Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) across Canada will be commemorated for their work during Medical Radiation Technologists’ Week, November 7-13, 2021. These professions include Radiological Technologists, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Radiation Therapists.
The largest group of MRTs employed at CancerCare Manitoba are Radiation Therapists. These specialized MRTs play a vital role in the planning, administration, and educational support aspect for patients during cancer treatment. Therapists are also branching out into other areas - information services, quality and research to name just a few.
Radiological Technologists who specialize in Mammography provide service in over 90 locations across the province through BreastCheck, CancerCare Manitoba’s breast cancer screening program.
In Radiation Protection Services, Radiological Technologists and Radiation Therapists support the radiation protection responsibilities that fall within the regulatory jurisdiction of the province.
A special thank you to all the MRTs for their hard work during COIVD19.
