Today marks Indigenous Nurses Day, as proclaimed by the Honourable Audrey Gordon, Minister of Health for Manitoba. National Nursing Week runs from May 9 to 15, 2022.

Our partners Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO) and Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. (KIM) commend all Indigenous nurses who have dedicated their lives to advancing the health and safety of Indigenous citizens across Manitoba and Canada.

“On behalf of MKO, I commend and recognize Indigenous nurses who continue to work diligently to ensure that First Nations receive the highest level of care,” said Grand Chief Garrison Settee. “Ekosi for your ongoing commitment to serving others. During National Nursing Week, MKO also recognizes the non-Indigenous nurses who provide excellent care and act as allies and advocates for First Nations people accessing the health care system in Manitoba.”

CancerCare Manitoba appreciates all the Indigenous Nurses who we partner with and who work in Manitoba and the regions of Nunavut that we serve (Kivalliq and Sanikiluaq). We thank them for their work.
