Media Advisory - CCMB Outpatient Treatment Relocation

CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) is advising patients with regularly scheduled outpatient treatments at CCMB's St. Boniface Hospital site that their treatment appointments will be relocated for the next several days. The relocation of service is in response to an odor issue that is affecting patient comfort.

CCMB staff is calling all patients who had treatment appointments scheduled at CCMB's St. Boniface Hospital site on:
  • Friday, June 12th
  • Monday, June 15th
  • Tuesday, June 16th

Only patients undergoing outpatient treatment are being relocated.

"Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy often suffer from nausea and have highly sensitized responses to strong smells, whether pleasant or unpleasant," said Dr. Sri Navaratnam, president and CEO of CancerCare Manitoba. "We are doing this to ensure patients in treatment are as comfortable as possible."

Clinic visits to CCMB's St. Boniface site for consultations with physicians continue as regularly scheduled. If CCMB St. Boniface patients have any concerns, they are encouraged to contact their clinic nurse.
