The Dr. Jacob Hollenberg Lectureship in Biomedical Science September 22, 2009 Advances in Treating and Preventing Hormone Dependent Breast CancerDr. Geoffrey L. Greene Wednesday, October 7, 2009 Internationally recognized for his work on the function of female hormones in breast cancer, Dr. Greene's research has had a major impact on how breast cancer is diagnosed worldwide. Learn how he and his team are applying new knowledge to how breast cancer starts and progresses, as well as treating and preventing the disease. The Dr. Jacob Hollenberg Lectureship in Biomedical Science Fund has been established to honour Dr. Hollenberg's life and legacy. In keeping with his personal and professional interests, the goal of the fund is to foster a community in which scientific scholarship may flourish. The Lectureship Fund is designed to support a lecture series in the field of biomedical science for both students in the field an interested members of the general public. The lectures are hosted by the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology (MICB), a joint institute of CancerCare Manitoba and the University of Manitoba. The MICB is dedicated to basic and translational research in biology and its relation to health, with a primary emphasis on cancer and related diseases. The event is sponsored by CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, and the Faculty of Medicine.
