The CCMB Clinical Practice Guidelines Initiative (CPGI)

The CCMB Clinical Practice Guidelines Initiative (CPGI) was formally launched in January 2006 with the mentorship of national expert Dr. George Browman, the Director of Alberta's Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Under the leadership of Dr. Piotr Czaykowski and Ms. Pam Johnston, the Team has formed partnerships with different clinical and research interest groups including CCMB's UPCON team and the CPG Action Group of the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control (CSCC).

CPGI team members will receive training in the development and implementation of guidelines from a renowned expert in the field, Dr. Melissa Brouwers PhD. of McMaster University.

The CPGI team will use the CSCC's "Guidelines Adaptation Tool Kit" which will enable CCMB Disease Site Groups to adapt existing evidence-based clinical practice guidelines into local cancer care practice.

The CPGI team is grateful for the generous funding support it has received for this important initiative from the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
