Patient and Family Support Services

Patient and Family Support Services, operating within the provincial mandate of CancerCare Manitoba, is a multidisciplinary service providing a comprehensive range of psychological, social and spiritual information, diagnostic, counseling and treatment services to people living with cancer. Services are provided at both CancerCare Manitoba Units; MacCharles and St. Boniface.


Patient and Family Support Services is currently made up of six distinct but related programs:
Our Mission

 Services

Clinical services are provided on an individual, couple, family or group basis.

For rural clients, consultations are available by telephone and through Teleoncology.

Patient and Family Support Services staff conduct psychosocial oncology and palliative care research, have published numerous academic papers, presented at countless local, national and international psychosocial oncology and palliative care conferences and are involved in public and health care professional education about the psychosocial and rehabilitation issues related to cancer and its treatment.

Patients of CancerCare Manitoba and/or their family members may contact us directly or may be referred by any CCMB staff member or other health care provider. Consults to our psychiatrist require a physician referral.
