Understanding the Pathology Report

A pathology report is sent to your surgeon each time tissue is removed from your body. This report helps your doctors decide what the best treatments for you are.

Many doctors will provide you with a copy of the report but you may ask for a copy if it is not offered. It is important to go through the report with your doctor so you understand what it says. It is not easy to understand on your own and in most cases will just increase your anxiety.
