Video Conferencing with Doctors and Patients

With the support of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, and the MBTelehealth Network, CancerCare Manitoba is now equipped with Teleoncology.

Teleoncology is the term CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) has adopted to refer to the use of telehealth technology in the delivery of cancer care.

Telehealth is the use of two-way video-conferencing equipment to link health care professionals to patients and other health care providers at a distance. Participants will be able to see, hear and talk to each other via a television screen.

MBTelehealth is a multiple site, province-wide telehealth network managed by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WHRA). MBTelehealth utilizes two way video-conferencing technology. CCMB entered into a purchase service agreement with MBTelehealth in July 2002 allowing CCMB to access their network.
