Help through Psychosocial Oncology

Psychosocial Oncology, which is part of Patient and Family Support Services, is made up of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and other health care professionals.

Our services are offered at no cost and are part of the care provided to you and your family and loved ones at CancerCare Manitoba.

We are specially trained to help you and your family cope with the emotional, psychological, social and spiritual stresses which often arise as a result of cancer and its treatment.

We provide individual, couple and family counseling as well as facilitate a number of different support groups and programs. We are also researchers, volunteer trainers, and educators on the psychosocial impact of cancer.

Staff are located at the MacCharles Unit, the St. Boniface Unit and at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. For those who live outside Winnipeg or Brandon, we can help you locate local resources, and/or provide services by telephone or Teleoncology.
