Help with Appearance Related Side Effects

Guardian Angel Caring Room

If you are experiencing hair loss or other appearance-related side effects from your treatment we may be of assistance to you.

The Guardian Angel Caring Room and its Coordinator are completely supported by funds raised through the Guardian Angel Benefit. It is dedicated to help people with cancer with appearance-related side effects.

A Wig Service, head coverings and laryngectomy stoma covers are available at no charge. In addition, the Look Good Feel Better Program is offered which provides hands-on workshops on skin care, makeup and head covering techniques.

We are located in Room ON1046, just down the hall from the main entrance at 675 McDermot Ave. and are open from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.   A wig service is also offered at the St. Boniface site near the Oncology clinic, South Entrance, Ground Floor - look for the orange door.

It is recommended that you make an appointment.

Hair Donations:

Hair donations across Canada are processed through the Canadian Cancer Society. Through their partnership with Proctor & Gamble Canada and the launch of the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign, wigs have been created, donated and distributed to women all across Canada. On average, it takes 7 donations to make one wig. If you are interested in donating your hair to the program, please visit for more information and to print off a postage-paid mailing envelope.

In Manitoba, for information on receiving a real hair wig, please call Kyra at the Canadian Cancer Society at (204) 789-0886.
