The Manitoba Breast Screening Program is celebrating ten years of early detection.

Highlights include:

  • We've grown from 2 fixed sites to four fixed sites and 87 mobile locations.
  • More than 100,000 Manitoba women have been screened
  • Over 1400 breast cancers have been detected - the majority in the early, most treatable stages.
  • More than 255,000 kilometres and 210 flights have been logged in service delivery to women all across the province.
  • Comprehensive outreach strategy and network of community partnerships were used to encourage screening participation.

The report reviews mammography rates before and after the screening program, current rates by regional health authority, how the program ensures service quality, stage of cancers detected, and our future directions for the next 10 years.
