Cancer of the cervix is largely preventable. A first step in preventing cancer of the cervix is a woman having regular Pap tests. A Pap test is a test that may find changes in the cervix even before the changes become cancerous. If changes on the cervix are found, the woman may need to go for a colposcopy appointment. At this appointment, the doctor will decide if any treatment is needed to reduce the risk of cancer. The treatments are very effective in preventing cancer of the cervix. This video provides relevant information for Manitoba women by:
- Explaining why Colposcopy has been recommended,
- Describing and demonstrating colposcopy,
- Outlining possible treatments,
- Explaining what to expect after you have colposcopy or treatments, and
- Addressing and offering strategies for overcoming common emotions and barriers that women experience when referred to colposcopy.
Running Time: 11:15 minutes
