The Community Cancer Programs Network, a provincial program of CancerCare Manitoba, has provided care to Manitobans for over 3 decades. Since 1978, this well-established program has enabled patients to receive cancer care and treatment in or near their own communities. Is the Community Cancer Programs Network for You?Most cancers can be treated safely in a community site. Your family doctor or surgeon will refer you to a cancer specialist (oncologist) in Winnipeg. Your cancer specialist plans your treatment and together with you, decides on the best location for your care. See also: CCPN Site Map Who will care for you at the Community Cancer Program?Your care is managed by a team of health care professionals. If you are referred to a CCP, you will be cared for by a team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and other support staff who have received specialized training in oncology. Your cancer specialist maintains ongoing contact with the CCP Team and retains overall responsibility of your care. If you have other needs ...Other support services may be available in your community for you and your family (for example cancer support groups, psychosocial support, palliative care, nutritional counseling, volunteer drivers, and spiritual support). Some supports are available directly from CancerCare Manitoba and can be accessed through the toll-free telephone number 1-866-561-1026. Community Cancer Program staff can ensure you have access to support from CancerCare Manitoba where possible (speech therapy, psychosocial support, nutritional counseling, etc.).
