When should I go for a Pap test?
English Version | French Version

Once you become sexually active you should begin to have regular Pap tests. Most women need a Pap test once a year for three years. If those results are okay, then you need a Pap test once every two years. Talk to your doctor or nurse about what is best for you.

You should continue to have regular Pap tests until 70 years of age. At 70 years of age you may be able to stop. Talk to your doctor or nurse.

A Pap test can be done at your doctor's office or a community health clinic or nursing station in your area. Check with a health provider in your area for information.

Important!

If you experience any abnormal bleeding, spotting or discharge from your vagina or pain in that area, do not wait for your next Pap test. Make an appointment with your doctor immediately.
