The Provision of Person-Centred Care at CancerCare Manitoba
At CancerCare Manitoba we strive to deliver the best cancer services to our patients and their families. It is important to us that we engage a person-centred approach to caring for our patients' needs. Person-centred care focuses on the specific needs of individuals. It moves beyond just the physical care patients receive and includes caring for a person's full range of needs, including those that are psychological, emotional, social, spiritual, functional, informational, and practical. We encourage the patient voice in the design, delivery, and evaluation of care patients receive and hope that these efforts will enhance the patient experience for each and every one of our patients. We encourage patients to be active partners in their care. This has been shown to lead to better outcomes and higher quality of life during the cancer experience.
