What is the Patient and Family Information and Resource Centre?
The Patient and Family Information and Resource Centre is a quiet place in the midst of an active treatment centre.
It's a place where individuals who are seeking information about cancer can begin to find it.
What materials are available?
The Patient & Family Information and Resource Centre provides you with a broad selection of pamphlets, booklets, magazines and newsletters that are available free of charge. There is a lending library of texts, audiotapes, videotapes and CD ROMS on all types of cancer. The Resource Centre has two computers with Internet access. Resource Centre volunteers as well as a nurse coordinator will help you find information on a specific topic and help you borrow material. A smaller collection of books, audio and video tapes, and other resource materials is also available at CCMB's St. Boniface Unit.
We also carry information on counseling and support services to make dealing with cancer a little easier. Many people find it helpful to meet with others in similar circumstances in a group setting. We carry information on support groups both within and outside Winnipeg.
What if I can't come down to the Resource Centre? Can I get information over the phone?
Yes, you can. Call us at 787-4357 if you live in Winnipeg, or call us toll free at 1-866-561-1026 and ask for the Patient and Family Information & Resource Centre.
Information can be given to you over the phone or mailed to your home. Let us know what would be easier for you.
When you can, we invite you to visit the Resource Centre to enjoy our complimentary refreshments, relax by our fireplace and let us help make a difficult time a little easier.
