Look Good Feel Better is a national program dedicated to helping women with cancer learn techniques to manage the appearance-related side effects of their treatment.

We have three dedicated teams of volunteer cosmetologists and wig specialists who conduct hands-on workshops on skin care, makeup and headcovering techniques.

The workshops are held monthly at four sites:

  • CancerCare Manitoba
    675 McDermot, Winnipeg
  • Grace Hospital
    300 Booth Street, Winnipeg
  • Victoria General Hospital
    2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg
  • and through the Brandon Regional Health Authority.

For information on oncoming sessions, see our Current Programs listing.

With a maximum of 10 women at each workshop, volunteers are able to give individual attention to the participants.

Each woman receives a kit of cosmetic products which have been donated by members of the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation. A major tenet of the program is product neutrality, so cosmetologists are not recommending a specific product, but rather teaching techniques to enhance appearance and manage some of the changes related to the side effects of cancer treatment.

This is an invaluable support service for women undergoing treatment. Regaining control of her self-image is just one way a patient can take charge of her experience with cancer.

If you or someone you know is facing a diagnosis of cancer, please call. Give your self-image a boost.

There is no charge for the workshops, but pre-registration is required. To register in Winnipeg, call Sharon Pollack or Veverley Naleway at (204) 787-4180 or toll free at 1-866-5661-1026. To register in Brandon, call (204) 726-2041.
