Education
Many learning opportunities exist at CCMB for both UPCON Lead Physicians and their clinic colleagues and all provincial primary caregivers. UPCOMING EVENT: Cancer Screening Continuing Medical Education Event For more information and to register, click here. Case Studies in CancerThese case-based sessions are facilitated by an UPCON Lead Clinician and enhanced by invited guests who are cancer care specialists with expert knowledge in the area of study for the selected month. The Lead Clinician has the responsibility to disseminate the information from each session to their clinic colleagues. To assist them in doing this, UPCON key messages, tips and highlights were introduced. This one page handout identified key highlights of each session with a focus on the role of the primary health care providers and the knowledge required to fully participate in the shared care of the patient from diagnosis to follow-up care. These sessions are restricted to health professionals from UPCON Clinics and can be used for Continued Professional Development (CPD) credits. Cancer Day for Primary CareDay long educational symposia for all primary health care providers have been organized by UPCON and held in the Arnold Greenberg Lecture Theatre at CCMB and at the Faculty of Medicine CPD. These events have been electronically linked to physicians and staff in rural and northern Manitoba sites via the MBTelehealth Network. Sessions focus on screening and prevention, on follow-up care and on updates in cancer care. Be a CancerProBe a CancerPro is a day-long session for all primary health care providers that gives you the information to navigate the provincial cancer/blood disorder system from screening and diagnosis to treatment and palliative care. Sessions are held both at CancerCare Manitoba and throughout the provincial Regional Health Authorities. |
