75th Anniversary Celebration

CancerCare Manitoba has celebrated 75 years of caring for Manitobans.

On April 14, 1930, the signing of the Cancer Relief Act created the first formal institute responsible for providing cancer care in Manitoba. Since then, this dynamic organization has continued to grow and recruit renowned physicians, researchers, and specialists in order to provide people with the best level of care and access to treatment.

On April 14, 2005, CancerCare Manitoba alumnus Janice Lutz, Dr. Dhali Dhaliwal, President and CEO of CancerCare Manitoba, Premier Gary Doer, and Andrew Paterson, Chairman of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Board, officially unveiled the specially designed logo for the 75th anniversary.

To mark this important milestone, CancerCare Manitoba is using its 75th to continue raising awareness about healthy lifestyle choices that can help prevent a large number of cancers. CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is a partner in this initiative which specifically targets five areas - staying smoke-free, eating right, keeping active, being sun smart and linking with your doctor to reduce personal cancer risks.

A large part of CancerCare Manitoba's success belongs to the generous spirit of Manitobans. At each stage of development, Manitobans were there to help make it happen. Thank you.
