The primary function of Radiation Therapy Planning is to design treatment plans by means of a treatment planning computer system that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose and beam arrangement in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription to a defined target volume and to consider the dose limiting structures (organs at risk, or OARs) in the design of the plans. This includes 3D and IMRT techniques.
