Epidemiology
The Epidemiology Unit of CancerCare Manitoba is dedicated to providing data analysis and statistical support to investigators interested in using health information from the Manitoba Cancer Registry, as well as other linkable data sources. The Unit has knowledgeable and skillful staff who can work with health researchers in study design and in the pre-data collection phases to ensure comprehensive/appropriate data capture. The Epidemiology Unit supports research by providing investigators with assistance with the following analytical services:
It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain approval from CancerCare Manitoba Research and Resource Impact Committee (RRIC), the University of Manitoba Research Ethics Board (REB), and Manitoba Health and Healthy Living (MHHL) Health Information Privacy Committee [(HIPC) required only if using MHHL data]. We respect and protect the right to privacy of the patients and ensure the appropriate use of confidential health information in compliance with the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).
