Turnaround

• The ABI 310 Genetic Analyzer can sequence one sample every hour (assuming 550 bases per sample). Therefore, the maximum number of samples processed per day is 24. Clearly our capacity is limited and our turnaround is dependent on the number of samples we will have to process. If the results of our surveys are accurate we should be able to meet the needs of the medical campus with a turnaround of 3 working days.

• We will try to process samples received on the following day.

• Processing includes: 1) setting up the PCR sequencing reaction; 2) running the PCR; 3) precipitating the sequencing products; 4) loading the samples onto the ABI 310 and 5) providing printed and / or digital results.

Pricing

• By optimizing the sequencing reaction protocol and by limiting the amount of sample manipulation, we will attempt to provide this service at a very reasonable price of $15 per sample. This is about half the price of other sequencing services and about half the price of manual sequencing.

• The pricing breakdown is as follows:

• Since labor is our largest cost, any deviation from our Sequencing Procedure (ie incorrect tubes, incorrect volume, etc.) will result in an additional charge of $1 per sample to account for the additional time required.

• Other charges:
            package of 50 thin walled PCR tubes  $5

• Finally, note that you WILL BE CHARGED for failed sequences if our control samples sequence properly. In the event that our controls fail, you will NOT be charged and will have the option to provide us with another sample for sequencing.
