Facilities for Then and Now

CancerCare Manitoba is committed to changing the course of cancer in this province. An important step is the building of a new CancerCare Manitoba facility, to be located across from the current MacCharles site at 675 McDermot, on the Health Sciences Centre campus. The new facility will provide leading edge care in cancer diagnostics, treatment and research, to best meet the needs of Manitobans today, tomorrow and into the future.

With a $70 Million commitment from the Province of Manitoba, and support from corporate and community partners, the new addition to CancerCare Manitoba facilities will feature:
  • A colorectal centre of excellence that focuses and coordinates the screening, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer for all Manitobans
  • A centre of molecular and genetic testing, which will enable personalized medicine according to the genetic makeup of a tumour
  • An Aboriginal/First Nations/Métis/Inuit cancer centre of excellence that offers care and treatment in a culturally appropriate way, while reaching all corners of Manitoba.
  • The Manitoba Cancer Research Centre, which will increase the reach of already established research and reputation, while attracting world class researchers
  • Team based clinic space, which will allow specialized teams of medical professionals to work together quickly on comprehensive, coordinated treatment plans

The new space will also attract and help with retention of outstanding health care professionals and researchers.
