CCMB Board of Directors

 

CancerCare Manitoba (formerly known the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation) is charged by an act of the Manitoba legislature with responsibility for cancer prevention, detection, care, research and education for the people of Manitoba. As a centre of choice, we are dedicated to excellence in cancer care, to enhancing quality of life for those living with cancer and blood disorders, and to improving cancer control for all Manitobans.

The CCMB Board members set the agenda for the long-term strategies, vision and planning of CancerCare Manitoba, as it relates to diagnosis, treatment, research, public education, undergraduate & postgraduate education, etc. with respect to cancer care/control.

The CCMB Board membership of the corporation consists of:
  1. the Minister of Health;
  2. the chairperson of the advisory medical board appointed under section 6 of the CancerCare Manitoba Act;
  3. one person appointed by the board of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority;
  4. one person appointed by the board of the St. Boniface General Hospital;
  5. one person appointed by the Board of Governors, University of Manitoba;
  6. ten persons, each from a separate geographical area of Manitoba, appointed by the minister; and
  7. seven persons appointed by the corporation subject to the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
