Job Summary:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Advisor II is a strong generalist that is knowledgeable of all facets of HR and provides comprehensive advice, guidance, and direction to management and employees within the multi-union environment. Part of a team of HR professionals, the HR Advisor II will be involved in all HR activities at CCMB including: employee/labour relations, recruitment and staffing, workplace health and safety, workforce planning, talent management, and policy development. The successful applicant will demonstrate: strong interpersonal/communication skills, the ability to organize as a self-starter, understanding of the support function necessary in order to effectively influence multiple stakeholders, and take the initiative when needed. The ideal candidate will have proven success in balancing multiple priorities and assignments, coupled with sound analytical, risk assessment, problem solving, and negotiation skills.

NOTE: An eligibility list will be created for a Human Resources Advisor for those applicants not fully meeting the Advisor II qualifications.



  • Master's Degree in a related field plus a Human Resources related designation
  • A seasoned HR professional with a minimum 8 years' of progressive HR experience
  • A minimum 5 years' experience in a multi-union environment with sound knowledge of employment and related legislation (e.g. Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Employment Equity Legislation, Workplace Health & Safety Act, and Worker's Compensation Legislation)
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in at least two of the following HR discipline groupings (total experience must still exceed 8 years in total):
    1. Labour / Employee Relations
    2. Training and Learning
    3. Organizational Design, HR Planning, and HR Information Systems
    4. Management of an operational team

    • Experience with MNU, MAHCP, CUPE and/or PCAM collective agreements
    • Experience working in a healthcare environment
